David Palmer LLB, MBA
Chief Executive Officer
In January 2017, David became Chief Executive Officer of the firm. He is a Director of Epworth, leads the Executive Committee and has ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the business.
He has previous experience in the asset management industry in the USA, Guernsey and London. David has served on a number of Boards in the Private Client and Hedge Fund sectors.
In 2007, he obtained an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. David worships at St. Alfege Church in Greenwich.
Marina Phillips FCA, MSc, Chartered MCSI, DCHA
Chief Financial Officer
Marina joined the firm in 2012. She is a Director of Epworth, a member of the Executive Committee and is responsible for the firm’s overall financial controls. Marina joined from St Joseph’s Hospice where she was Finance Director and Deputy CEO. She has over 20 years experience within the charity sector.
Marina qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987 and has a Masters Degree from Cass Business School. She is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments.
Chief Investment Strategist
Roz joined the firm in June 2021 as Chief Investment Strategist and will be responsible for all matters relating to the investment functions of Epworth, including defining and executing the investment strategy, asset allocation, and fund performance.
Prior to joining Epworth, Roz worked at UBS Asset Management, chairing their Product Strategy Board, helping build the global product range and develop an innovative product shelf and strategy. Roz has 25 years of experience in the investment industry, including 15 years as a consultant working with some of the world’s largest investors.
Miles Askew BA, MSc, ASIP
Head of Research
Miles has worked at the firm for over 20 years. He is Head of Research and has overall responsibility for identifying quality companies that fit our investment philosophy.
He oversees a team of five people, ensuring their research meets all our investment and ethical requirements.
Miles has an MSc in Investment Management from Cass Business School.
Rev Dr Andrew Harper BA(Hons), MTS, DMin
Head of Ethics
Andrew joined the firm in April 2021 as Head of Ethics and will be responsible for all matters related to ethical thought leadership and ethical performance.
From Texas, and ordained in the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Andrew was previously Director of Global & Learning Innovation at Cliff College, a graduate and postgraduate evangelical learning community that forms part of the Methodist Church.
Andrew holds postgraduate qualifications in theology from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas and has completed his Doctor of Ministry with Wesley University in Nigeria.
Vanessa Meredith BA(Hons)
Head of Compliance
Vanessa joined the firm in September 2017.
She has 23 years experience working in the financial services industry and since 2011 has worked within a number of compliance roles at Ashcourt Rowan Plc, Towry and Tilney. Prior to this she worked as a sales trader within several investment banks, including CSFB and SG Securities.
Vanessa is a graduate with a BA (Hons) degree.
Jane Kotchkina MSc
Jane joined us in April 2017 and is a Fund Manager looking after our range of fixed income funds.
She previously worked for a number of investment management businesses including Citi Private Bank and Towry Ltd.
Jane has a BA (Hons) in Business and Financial Economics from Staffordshire University and an MSc in Quantitative Finance from the University of Westminster. She has also completed the Securities Institute’s Certificate in Investment Management.
Gareth Morgan BSc
Gareth joined the firm in March 2020 and co-manages our equity funds. He has previously worked for a number of investment management businesses, including BMO GAM and Perpetual.
Gareth has a BSc in Business Finance and Economics from the University of East Anglia. He is also an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK.
Matthew Jones BSc, CFA
Matthew joined the firm as a Trainee Fund Manager shortly after graduating from University in September 2014. He is now a Fund Manager, managing the equity investment funds and conducting research to identify new investments.
Matthew studied Economics at Swansea University, completed the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
Matthew worships at St Andrews Church, Chorleywood.
Sophie Forrest BA (Hons)
Sophie joined the firm in November 2016 and is a Fund Manager, with a focus on ethics. She works alongside the investment team to conduct research into ethical issues and contribute to the development of ethical policies.
Sophie studied Theology and Music at university, applying theological thought to different issues in the church. She has also completed the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate.
Harry Evans BSc (Hons)
Harry joined the firm in September 2018 and is a Fund Manager within the investment team. His role will involve assisting in the management of investment portfolios through investment research and analysis.
He read Economics at the University of Bath, from which he graduated in 2018. During his degree, he completed a placement year as a data analyst in the field of development finance with Development Initiatives.
Harry has completed the CFA Investment Management Certificate, and is working towards the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Chris Field IAQ
Head of Operations
Chris joined the firm in 1998.
He is responsible for the day to day administration of our investment funds and is also Head of IT. Previously Chris worked at Citibank for 15 years in various investment operation positions.
Chris studied A Levels in French, German and Economics at Colfe’s Grammar School in Lee. He is also the Treasurer of New Eltham Methodist Church.
